The II International Camp, Paços’ Summer Camp is composed of 10 teachers with high experience. Get to know a little more about each one of them.

Ana Brízida

Ana Brízida was born in S. Paio de Oleiros, where she started studying music. She continued studying violin in Academia de Música de Espinho and Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho, where she concluded the course in orchestral practice in 2001. She graduated in violin in Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas of Castelo Branco in professor Augusto Trindade’s class. She completed the Musical Education course in Universidade Aberta in 2011. She took part in several masterclasses with remarkable violin players, including Daniel Rowland, Zófia Wóycicka, Augusto Trindade and Odin Rathnam. She has also played in several orchestras such as Orquestra Aproarte, Orquestra Clássica da Madeira, Camerata Nov´Arte, Orquestra da Uex (Universidade da Extremadura), Orquestra Clássica de Espinho, Orquestra Sinfónica da Póvoa de Varzim, and ESART Ensemble with renowned conductors like Omri Hadari, Cesário Costa, Osvaldo Ferreira, Vasco Pierce de Azevedo, Pedro Carneiro, Luís Carvalho, Pedro Neves, Rui Pinheiro, Kamen Goleminov, Ernest Schelle, Ivo Cruz, Pedro Amaral, Dominique Sourisse, Jan Dobrzelewski.

As a violin teacher, she worked in Academia de Música e Dança of Fundão and she is currently teaching violin in Academia de Música de Paços de Brandão. She also holds a permanent position in the Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa.


Adriana Ramos

She began his musical studies in 1990 at Esproarte, Professional School of Art of Mirandela, in the class of Professor António Azevedo da Cunha e Silva. He was a member of the String Quartet “ad libitum” for 5 years, with which he performed some concerts in the city of Luanda, Angola (1995). She joined the Esproarte Orchestra, with which she participated in the Banff International Festival, Canada (1994), at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, Scotland (1996) and participated in the same Festival with the Orchestra of the Espinho Professional School of Music (2002). Who also participated in the International Youth Orchestra Festival in Murcia, Spain (1999), and made a tour of the same Orchestra in Brazil, namely in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Brasilia and Salvador da Baia. She toured Germany in the cities of Goslar and Hannover (Expo 2000) with the Orchestra of the Évora Professional School of Music (2000). She joined OPJ, the Portuguese Youth Orchestra (1994 and 1995), with which she performed some concerts around the country. In 2016, she participated in the 39th Summer Music Festival of Paços de Brandão and in the 24th Music Festival of Alcobaça, Cistermúsica 2016, with the Symphonic Euro-Atantic Orchestra. Worked with the violinists André Gousseau, Anna Kratochvilova, Gustavo Delgado, Gerardo Ribeiro, Mark Gunderman and Valentim Stefanov. In Chamber Music she worked with violinist Cunha e Silva, cellist José Augusto Pereira de Sousa, pianist Vitali Dotchenko, composer Chagas Rosa, pianist Helena Marinho and organist Edite Rocha. In the orchestra, she worked with the following masters: Arnold Allum, Gunter Arglebe, José Luís Duarte, Leonardo de Barros, Myio Inouye, Ricardo Averbach, Miguel Graça Moura, Gary Daverne, Thomas Rolston, Jean-Mark Burfan, Nicolay Lalov, Cesário Costa, Roland Kieft, António Vassalo Lourenço, Luís Carvalho, Vasco Negreiros, Ernst Schelle, Vasco Pearce de Azevedo, António Sérgio Ferreira, Paulo Lourenço, Nuno Côrte-Real, Jorge Matta, Jean Sebastien Berró, Pedro Neves, Peter Bergamin, Osvaldo Ferreira, Bertrand Brouder and David Giménez Carreras. Participated in some events, which were attended by the following musicians: Isabel Alcobia, António Salgado, Alessandro Safina, Rui Reininho, Adolfo Luxuria Canibal, Adriano Jordão, Abel Pereira, José Carreras, Pavel Milyukov, Amélia Muge e José Mário Branco. Graduated the Course of Degree in Music Teaching at the University of Aveiro in the class of Prof. David Lloyd and Zoltan Santa. She has teaches since 2009 at the Paços de Brandão Music Academy.


António Pereira

Born in Mirandela, António Pereira began his musical studies in his hometown’s Professional Music School as a violinist – as which he was addmitted in Porto Superior School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE) to the violin class of professors Radu Ungureanu and Zofia Woycicka. Later on, he faced a life-changing turn on the acknowledgment of his deep connection to the viola sound and technique, then studying under the guidance of professor Ryszard Woycicki, finishing his academic degree with the highest marks. He was a member of ESMAE Ancient Music Orchestra under the guidance of Ana Mafalda Castro,  and regularly performed with the most important portuguese orchestras.

He continued his viola studies in Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia – Madrid, under the guidance of Gerard Caussé, Jensen Horn-Sin Lam and Diemut Poppen, and his chamber music studies were pursued under the guidance of Rainer Schmidt. Later he concluded his Master in Music Education degree  at Aveiro University under the guidance of David Lloyd.

António Pereira is Viola Professor at Castelo Branco Superior School of Applied Arts (ESART), at Aveiro University (UA), and Paços de Brandão Academy of Music. He gives regular masterclasses around the country and his students have been distinguished in several competitions and orchestras. António Pereira continues to extend his musical and interpretation concepts under the guidance of Ana Bela Chaves.


Helder Tavares

Graduated in clarinet by ESMAE – (Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espectáculo) High School of Music and Arts of Oporto with the professors, Antonio Saiote and Nuno Pinto, he participated in “Master Class” with Guy Dangain, Henry Bok, Philippe Cuper, Michael Arrignon, Guy Deplus and Walter Seyfarth.
He took part of the Wind National Orchestra of Templários, Orchestra of clarinets “Invicta”, with which he has recorded two CD’s.
In 1999, with the Oporto Clarinet Quartet, on the 13th edition of Young Musicians Award (RDP), he won the 2nd Prize in Chamber Music, and he was finalist in an international competition “The Osaka International Chamber Music Competition & Festival” – Japan.
With the Youth Orchestra from the Municipality of Santa Maria da Feira during their stage at Easter 2003, he had its début in direction. With the same orchestra he directed the New Year concert in 2004 where they were interpreted, among others, works of R. Schumann – Concerto for piano – and M. Ravel – Bolero.
He attended increasing courses related to conducting with the teachers: Osvaldo Ferreira, Alexander Polishchuk, Jan Cober and Douglas Bostock.
Currently he is director of the “Clarinetíssimo Ensemble”, Art’ Orchestra Ensemble, and he collaborates with the Portuguese Symphonic Wind Band.
It’s an invited Professor at the Music Academies of Paços de Brandão and the Terras de Santa Maria Conservatory of Music.
Since 2005 he has been the conductor of the “Banda de Música da Cidade de Espinho” with which he won the 1st Prize in the 2nd place in the “2nd International Bands Ateneu A. Vilafranquense – Portugal” besides that he has received the best critics for his band performance in several concerts. As a guest conductor he conducts several projects with wind music and orchestra.


Marcelo Lopes

Born in 1986 and is a native of Venezuela. He completed his degree in Performance and a master’s degree in teaching at the University of Aveiro.
As a musician, he is currently reinforced in the Sinfónica Orchestra of Porto Casa da Música, head of the band and Youth Orchestra of Santa Maria da Feira and Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra.As a teacher he works at the Music Academy of Paços de Brandão and Orfeão de Santa Maria da Feira.
In addition to the listed teachers for woodwind and brass, there will be teachers of each individual woodwind and brasss instrument.


Nuno Arrais

Nuno Arrais is invited teacher at the Music Department of Minho University in Braga, teacher at Conservatório de Música de Aveiro Calouste Gulbenkian and Arteduca – Conservatório de Música de Vila Nova de Famalicão. Studied double bass at Artave – Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave, Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra de Lisboa and Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo do Porto, under the guidance of teachers as Alexandre Samardjiev, Bernard Madrennes, Jesus Redondo, Ercole de Conca, Florian Pertzborn, António Augusto Aguiar, Paul Ellison, Ubaldo Fioravanti e Giuseppe Ettorre. As a teacher he worked also at Escola Profissional and Academia de Música de Viana do Castelo, at Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave, and also at Escola Superior de Educação de Lisboa, Instituto Piaget, Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Plays regularly in recitals, chamber music, several orchestras and music theater, in concerts all over the country and abroad. He is often invited to give masterclasses and to be jury in national and international contests. He has a master degree in Psychology and Pedagogy of Music from Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas at Universidade Nova de Lisboa and is a researcher at Laboratório de Música e Comunicação na Infância/CESEM, at the same University. He has several publications in the field of teaching and musical development and is also a founder of ESTA (European String Teachers Association) in Portugal.


Pedro Silva

Born on July 5, 1990 in the city of Fiães Portugal. He began his musical studies on trumpet at age 11.
Throughout his training he attended several trumpet Masterclasses under the guidance of Professors Hakan Hardenberger, Reinhold Friedrich, Rudi Korp, Giulano Sommerhalder, Pacho Flores, Luis Gonzalez, John Aigi Hurn, Pierre Dutot, Jorge Almeida, Stephen Mason. Masterclasses with luur Spanish Brass Metals.
He was accepted in “The World Orchestra” 2010 and “Youtube Symphony Orchestra” 2011 with maestro Michael Tilson Thomas.
In 2011 completed a degree in Music Interpretation area, variant Instrument (Trumpet), University of Minho with Professors Pierre Dutot and Vasco Faria.
In 2012 won first prize in the competition of Trumpet of Povoa do Varzim, Portugal. In 2012, he was 1º Trumpet of Fundação Orquestra Estudio, European Capital of Culture, Guimarães 2012. From 2013 until 16 he joined reinforcement in Orquestra Nacional do Porto and Orquestra das Beiras.
Pedro has collaborated with several orchestras, Orchestra Oporto Casa da Música, Orquestra de Câmara do Minho, Orquestra das Beiras, Orquestra do Norte, Orquestra Sinfónica da Povoa do Varzim, Orquestra Sinfónica de Santa Maria da Feira, Orquestra Ibero-Americana, Orquestra de la Universidad de Múrcia.
He is teacher in the Academia de Música de Paços de Brandão. Currently attending the Masters in University of Minho and studying in the Brass Academy Alicante with Professor Rudi Korp.


Raquel Andrade

Began her musical studies at the age of 13, at the Academia de Música de Santa Maria da Feira. At the age of 15, continuous at Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho, in the class of teacher Gisela Neves. In 2007, finished her Degree in Music – Cello, at the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas do Instituto Politécnico de  Castelo Branco, in the class of Professor Miguel Rocha. In 2007/2008 studied at the National School of Music of L’Hay les Roses (Paris) with Professor Romain Garioud.

Raquel Andrade participated in several orchestras with the conductors Cesário Costa, Brian Schembri, Osvaldo Ferreira, Omri Hadari, Vicente Soler Solano, António Saiote, Simone Meneses, Xavier Gagnepain, Rui Massena, Pedro Neves, Gianandrea Noseda, Mathias Bamert, Vladimir Ashkenazy among others. In 2010 participated in the Spring and Summer Tour of the European Union Youth Orchestra, That give her the chance of playing in the biggest European concert halls such as Royal Albert Hall (London) and Concertgebow (Amsterdam).

She participated in Masterclasses with the professors: Jed Barahal, Varoujan Bartikian, Paulo Gaio Lima, Levon Mouradian, Xavier Gagnepain, Ivan Monighetti, Pieter Wispelwey, among others. Appearance as soloist in 2014 with Banda Amizade (Aveiro) and with the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras in 2015. Teaches at the Conservatório de Música da JOBRA and at the Academia de Música de Paços de Brandão. Completed in 2016 the Professional Course in service at the Universidade Aberta. Since December 2012 she has held the position of tutti in the cello section of the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras.


Tiago Santos

Tiago Santos started studying music in the class of Prof Joana Sybert in the Academy of Music of Santa Maria da Feira at the age of 7 years old. He then moved to the Academy of Music of Pacos de Brandao, to continue studying violin with Prof. Carlos Fontes and Prof. Augusto Trindade. He completed the High School of Music in violin with a grade of 19 out of 20.
He enrolled in the class of Prof Augusto Trindade in Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas in Castelo Branco, where he graduated in 2012. He also completed a Masters Degree in Musical Education in the same institution in 2015.

Throughout his training, Tiago attended several masterclasses with renowned violin players, including Daniel Rowland, Helge Slaatto, Zófia Wóycicka and Odin Rathnam.
His participation in orchestras in also remarkable: he took part in the Gulbenkian Orchestra Internship in 2013; he hold a permanent position in The World Orchestra in 2012 and in the European Union Youth Orchestra between 2009 and 2012 and he also played in the Youtube Symphony Orchestra in 2009. He also played in the Orquestra Clássica de Espinho and Orquestra Sinfónica da Póvoa de Varzim. He is currently permanent member of the Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa, Camerata Nov´Arte and Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa. His participation in all those orchestras allowed him to have concerts recorded by all Portuguese TV channels and BBC Radio 3. He won the second prize in the Santa Cecília competition in 2006 and 2007 and he was granted a merit scholarship by Instituto Politécnico of Castelo Branco in 2010.

He is currently violin teacher in Academia de Música de Paços de Brandão and Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas of Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco.
